Two letters written by Jesse Looney to his brother-in-law, John C. Bond: (1) first letter (October 27, 1843) describes arrival of emigrants to Whitman Mission and Looney's experiences during overland journey to Oregon in 1843; (2) second letter (February 25, 1847) discusses the hardships suffered by both the Applegate and Donner parties of 1846.
